sell has come. I am the third owner and the Clio comes with 2 keys, original handbooks and wallets and a stack of receipts and is currently sitting on 83k. The MOT expires on 13/3/2012 and the tax is due at the end of Feb 2012. For those of you not familiar with the cup model of the Renaultsport Clio 172, here is a link http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/carrevi...o_172_cup.html Since owning the Clio I have replaced the following; • Cam belt kit , Aux belt & Dephaser replaced at 73k (10k ago) • Spark Plugs replaced with the correct NGK PFR6E-10 specification plugs replaced at 73,250 (10k ago) • 5w 40 Fully Synthetic oil and Bosch oil filter changed at 73,273,77,329 & 81,223 (2k ago) – the Clio is currently running on Gulf Competition racing oil 5w 40. • Paper air filter replaced at with a cleanable JR filter element 2 months ago. • Brembo HC Front disks, EBC Ultimax pads and Carlube Dot 4 brake fluid replaced at 75,324 (8k ago) • Coolant replaced with OE Renault Coolant changed at 75,533 (8k ago) • Outside temperature nipple replaced (replaced on 6/3/11) • Replacement front and rear plates (replaced on 1/5/11) • Toyo T1R tyre fitted to N/S rear replaced at 76,179 (7k ago) – all other tyres have plenty of tread left. • Eibach Sportline springs fitted all round changed at 78,325 (5k ago) • Fully refurbished Speedline turinis in matt black. All in brilliant condition, with the front N/S having a slight kerb mark (see picture) • Ktec stealth supersports unsilenced full stainless cat back system replaced at 80,962 (3k ago) – this was bought brand new at a cost of £300 and will last the lifetime of the car. The above is what I have replaced during my ownership and have receipts to back this up (I have a box file full of documents) The Renault wallet also contains all the old receipts from the previous owner who owned the car for 7 years! – The book is stamped up to 54k.There are a few very minor points; - The bonnet has a few dimples where it has been closed with a little too much effort; this was present when I purchased the car and is not very noticable. The pattern part exhaust that was previously fitted damaged the bumper on a long motorway journey. The angle and design of the tailpipe was incorrect and as a result it’s melted a small section of bottom edge of the rear bumper. I hastily removed this exhaust and replaced this with a quality system. This is an easy fix for someone with the facilities and know how on how to rectify. -It waxes up like a dream and has regularly been waxed with Collinite 845 - regular hand washing brings it up gleaming. Overall this is a very genuine car with all the history to back it up, this regularly returns 36mpg on mixed driving and handles better than anything else I have driven!!Viewing is recommended. I have run the car up for a fair few hours and there are no water leaks, no overheating or misfire etc. The clutch and gearbox work fine. The car has a low milage of 98k. Its moted till June and has tax till end of the month. I can tax the car for you if you wish. The few downside are... There is a hole in the very bottom of the front bumper, also fog light missing. The drivers door handle has come loose and will not open, There is a very very small blow on the exhaust. 2X Front tyres worn on outer edge. All of these thing would be able to be fixed in no time and any parts are avaliable in local scrap yards. But all in all a good car with alot of life left in her. The engine runs and sounds great. This magnificent Renault carries limousine coachwork by one of Frances most distinguished & longest lived Carrossiers, Kellner founded in 1860 by harness maker George Kellner who continued in business until the outbreak of the second world war.Recalled another master coach builder, Jean Henri-Labourdette, whose premises adjoined the Kellner workshops in the avanue de Malakoff, "Kellner coachwork was always executed in an impeccable fashion & their design , of classic inspiration , was always elegant in its sobriety."Sir Henry ordered the Renault in 1911 at the Paris Salon. It was registered in Kent on 11th September 1912 due to the time it took to build this bespoke body of the finest quality. Appropriately this stately carriage was used to carry the highest in the land including King Edward the VIIIth & Prime minister Lloyd George.The body takes the form of an open drive limousine. To the front is patinated but very serviceable black buttoned leather. The dash boasts a speedometer & assorted original switches for magneto, Lamps, etc. Mounted to the running board is a brass acetylene generator for the lamps. A folding ladder of exquisite design, cunning & execution is fitted to the running board & may be utilized to access luggage on the roof. The front of the car is festooned with the usual brass accoutrements found on such machines. A hand crank brass klaxon is fitted the better to clear the hoi polloi from the kings highway.The best part of the car is within. The doors open to reveal sumptuous walnut door panels edged with exquisite marquetry. This cabinet making mastery extends to an inlaid band of wood extending round the inside extremities of the roof. The interior is utterly original with bedford cord accented by ornamental embroidered brocade to the seats & window pulls. A rope hat rack is in place in the centre of the roof coyly holding a silk plush top hat. Occasional seats in buttoned cord fold from the bulkhead. A speaking tube & trumpet allows orders to be conveyed to the working quarters up front suffixed no doubt with the moniker "James". Blinds extend to all the windows. Roll down side screens provide protection from inclement weather up front.Under the bonnet is a four cylinder Renault engine displacing some five litres. It starts readily & runs silently with smooth power from the large displacement. The gear Box is a four speed & very easy to use & make smooth changes with. Indeed test driving the car along the roads of rural Scotland was pleasure in itself. The engine size makes for effortless cruising. The last owner had no hesitation in taking the car on an extended tour of Northern France.Without doubt one of the finest Edwardian cars I have handled, the car may be viewed by appointment in the Scottish Borders. In superb running order it will do well if entered in any "Preservation class" event.
