Covered less than 100 miles since.Examples of other work...Rear bank of HT coils replaced - these are an Achilles heel as difficult and expensive to get at, so no worries there.All 6 sparkplugs replaced at same time although these are good for 72,000 miles.Both rear wheel bearings done. Lots of work to front suspension in October.Other features...CD Multichanger unit refurbished.Nearly-new Yokohama tyres all round - these give improved handling and a smooth quiet ride.Custom stainless steel exhaust system.Bluetooth integrated handsfree phone system.A very refined and comfortable long-distance cruiser, regularly used to travel to the Midlands, Cornwall and an incident-free trip to central France. Very reliable and practical with huge deep boot space, a very cool and stylish workhorse if needbe. Or press the magic button and cruise the country lanes like you`re in a convertible!There are some small flaws: minor scratches near rear wheel arches - only visible up close; a couple of the wheels could do with a re-furb at some point; a small piece of trim that covers the ashtray in centre-console is missing; small felt-tip stain on carpet in rear footwell - not in plain view; general wear and tear here and there; for some reason dealer registered ownership before me, so previous owners/users is actually 4.It`s obviously not a brand new car but is in excellent eye-catching condition and can be driven away and used every day, receiving lots of interest and attention.I will be sorry to see it go but I have recently moved house and have too many toys for the space available.(More photos will be added soon). | Here is my renault avantime that i am selling as spares or repaires | I will start by saying that if you are looking at this add you more than likely ...> no that there are very few of these cars ever made... There is only 463 left in total and this is the only green one ever sold in the uk as a uk car. | This one has been standing for a while now (arround 2 years), my farther owned it then sold it to my grandad and a while lator i inherrited it. | It was taken off the road when my grandad became ill and since that it has sat and been vandalised | I bourght a new battery for it and it started on the button | Alot needs doing to it to become mint again | It needs new drivers mirror, drivers indicator, drivers rear light, exhaust (blowing), rear seat section (hole where seatbelt button comes out of), break disks look very rusty so need changing, engine light is on (sensor), glove compartment does not stay closed and to top it off there are long key marks down both sides with scuffs on both bumpers. | I priced it up at arround 1500 with spraying and parts if i put the parts on. | Dispit the engine lite on you can be assured it is very very reliable... i say this because a new engine was put in arround late 2005-2006 by renault at arround 50-60 thousand miles and it is quiet as a mouse. | There is currently just under 71000 on the clock and if you go to mot check.gov you can get a free print out to support milage. | Alot of paperwork was lost over the years so new owner will need to apply for v5 (or i can) and service history is also gone but all these invoices can be obtained from our local renault garage where all the work was done (including engine change) | All in all, this car will start and drive right now and is un-beleivably rare due to its colour but needs somone with some time and love for these cars to do it. | Any questions please dont hesitate to ask | PS. if it does not sell i will keep it for my self... may sort it in the summer | X | £820.00  |

Patrick Le Quément The Renault Avantime is a grand-touring coupé[2] combining features of a 2+2 coupé[3] and an MPV — marketed by the French manufacturer Renault, designed and manufactured by Matra,[4] between 2001 and 2003. The Avantime was a one-box design without B-pillars — styled by Patrick Le Quément.

The Avantime was designed and developed in-house by Renault affiliate Matra and was conceived by Philippe Guédon, head of the automotive division at Matra, who "believed that the children of Espace owners remained loyal to the car even after they had grown up and left home. As a result, the renowned MPV was gaining a generation of new drivers."[3]
Styled by Patrick Le Quément, the Avantime was intended to combine the space of an MPV with four-place pillarless qualities of a coupé.[4] Regarding the styling, Thierry Metroz, design project manager, said, "We wanted someone walking around the car to be continually astonished."[5]
The one-box design eliminated B-pillars and featured an aluminum structure, aluminum panels for the greenhouse and a full sunroof of strengthened heat-reflecting glass.[6] The interior featured four seats each with built-in seatbelts and Bridge of Weir leather.[6] To facilitate access to the rear seats, two long doors featured a double parallel-opening hinge system (marketed as "double-kinematic") that maximized access with minimal outswing of the doors.[3] Front side windows lowered automatically when either of the front seats folded forward to further facilitate entry to the rear two seats.[6] Windows featured power-deployable sunshades[2], and the H-points of the rear two seats were higher than the forward two seats, giving the Avantime "theater seating."[5] The luggage compartment featured a retaining system using retractable straps,[6] and all Avantimes featured a two-tone look created by the exposed aluminium of the greenhouse. The windows and panoramic sunroof could open automatically via a single, headliner mounted control,[2] to give the Avantime an 'open air' mode.
The design borrowed the automotive space frame of the first generation Renault Espace (load bearing galvanized structure with non-load bearing composite panels) utilizing Renault's 24 valve, 207 hp (152 kW) 3.0L V6 engine was coupled to a 6-speed transmission.

The Avantime was first shown in 1999 in concept form at the Geneva Auto Show — where it was called a "Coupéspace"[4] — and went into production two years later, after the subsequent engineering of the pillarless roof to meet safety standards.
The Avantime's sales were poor.[citation needed] The car's fortunes were not helped by the introduction of the Renault Vel Satis (another large, upmarket Renault) around the same time. When Matra decided to pull out of the automotive production business in 2003 (partly as a result of the financial loss incurred by the poor sales of the Avantime)[citation needed], Renault chose to discontinue the Avantime rather than move its production elsewhere. 8,557 [1] were built from 2001 to 2003.
In 2008, the Avantime was featured on the British motoring show Top Gear, where the presenters modified the performance of a used Avantime, attempting to lap the test track faster than an Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. The Avantime was recognized as one of the few cars that all three presenters, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May liked (along with Ford Mondeo and Subaru Legacy).[7]
In 2002, Automobile Magazine said "Le Quement is clearly an outside-the-box thinker, and the product of his vision is a fascinating exercise, but American buyers' utilitarian expectations of the one-box shape just don't jibe with the decadence and frivolity of a grand-touring coupe."[2]

They had equally ambitious aims for Avantime, an avant-garde vehicle inspired by the famous MPV. From concept to reality In the early 1990s, Philippe Guédon, head of the automotive division at Matra, noted a change in the customer base of Espace. He believed that the children of Espace owners remained loyal to the car even after they had grown up and left home. As a result, the renowned MPV was gaining a generation of new drivers, looking for a concept with a stronger focus on driving pleasure. Matra came up with a response in the form of CoupéSpace, a bold concept combining the dimensions of Espace with the layout of a conventional 2 + 2 seater coupé. In 1998, Renault and Matra officially formed a partnership for Avantime. The CoupéSpace project was adopted and renamed Avantime. The new vehicle borrowed the chassis of Espace III, developed by Matra, and Renault took charge of the design process. The key word was innovation. Closer to the top of the range Unveiled as a concept car at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1999 and quickly presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1999, Avantime arrived on the market in early 2001. The design was based on a new architectural concept. The unusual proportions respected the fundamentals of executive vehicle design: safety, comfort, ride, equipment. Through a subtle alchemy, Avantime combined the values of several types of vehicle. It had the “one-box” architecture, space, functionality and user-friendly features of an MPV, the design, drivability and dynamic ride of a coupé, and the exhilarating sense of freedom of a cabriolet, with an “open-air” function that dropped the side windows when the sunroof was opened, a feature made possible by the absence of B-pillars. The double-kinematic hinge system on the doors provided easy access with minimal swing. The upper structure was made of aluminium. The latest result of Renault’s partnership with Matra, Avantime was designed to open a “third way” for Renault’s success in the executive market. Renault, creator of vehicles In May 2003 Renault announced that it was ending production. In the space of two years, just 8,557 units had left the Renault plants. A commercial failure that can be explained by the high price and by the fact that the launch was frequently put back. A diesel version was cruelly lacking in the first few months, when only the V6 3-liter gasoline engine was available. Also, the launch coincided with that of another Renault executive vehicle, Vel Satis. These simultaneous events were quickly confused in the minds of the public. With this concept car, Renault nevertheless confirmed its status as a creator of vehicles. Rather than simply producing cars, the firm took on board the new requirements of innovation, original styling and bold industrial concepts. Today, Avantime is a precious find for collectors of rarities! I had one too. Colour "Steppe" = light beige/green. I bought a 2.2 Diesel in february 2003, but sold it in 2004. I miss it ever since... Wish I could turn back time.
